mishMASH - 41 Alves Road - GEORGIAN BAY
At the beginning of July, I posted a small 2 bedroom cottage at 412 2650 Island in Cognashene in Georgian Bay.
It was a casual cottage, and not very large with only 2 bedrooms, but I thought it was kind of perfect.
There is something about this cottage located further north and closer to Parry Sound that reminds me of a fancier version of that cottage. Kind of what those people would move to if they were going bigger.
This cottage is 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and it is located on 24 acres of land...
The Cognashene cottage sat on 1,444 feet of waterfront and this one is 'only' on 961 but it sits beside crown land and the view is amazing.
And I love the cottage.
Perhaps it is because it reminds me of the home at 1227 Fairweather Road on Bowen Island in B.C. that I loved.
Or maybe it's the concrete floors, or the bathroom, or the kitchen....
Or the view.
There is just something about this place.
But it has been listed for a while.
In September 2013, it was featured in the Montreal Gazette when it was listed at $2,690,000.
Then it was featured in the National Post a month later in October with a reported price increase to $3,160,000.
According to that article, this cottage was designed by TACT Design who are behind a LOT of townhouse developments throughout Toronto. It also said that this cottage apparenlty had 1,500 feet of waterfront, not 961.
It was awarded the 2012 Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) Award for Design Excellence as well.
But none of that helped sell this cottage.
It is now on the market, and it looks like it has been since June...
For $2,175,000.
That master bathroom toilet/bidet room has glass that fogs over for privacy, right?
Otherwise, that's just kind of awkward.
