43 Laing Street - LESLIEVILLE
This building sits on a 45 x 120 foot lot at 43 Laing Street in Leslieville.
It's a commercial building with a 2 bedroom rental on the second floor and 4 parking spots.
And it is home to the recordings of artists such as The Tragically Hip, K.D. Lang...
But not necessarily the 1984 Helix...
In case you don't remember, this video is PG-13+ and NSFW...
But this one is safe for work...
This is also where the namesake and current business tenant of this property (or owner?) Joao Carvalho Mastering restored, re-mastered, and archived classic recordings.
One of those bands was Glass Tiger...
The band that performed this song....
And this song...
And the band that made this awesome video...
That featured shots of the people in the audience...
(these two thought they were going to see The Cure)
The recording equipment isn't included in the deal which makes me wonder where Joao Carvalho Mastering is moving. Perhaps they are moving into the Revolution Recordings studio across the street at 36 Laing Street.
According to Ronnie Hawkins (Happy 80th Birthday!), Revolution Recordings is a pretty good studio...
“I've recorded at Little Mountain (next door to Motley Crue). I've been in indie studios and mobile studios and garage studios. I've recorded in my bedroom, in my living room, at my cottage and in my bathroom. Somehow the folks at Revolution have taken the glamour and professionalism of Abbey Road and infused it with the spontaneity and fun of recording in your rec room. Viva La Revolucion!”
This building at 43 Laing Street is listed at $1,825,000.
It has been listed since the middle of December, so I am not sure it will go for asking.
But if you have been looking for a studio to some recording....
