A little over a week ago, I posted a house at 226 Douglas Drive in Rosedale

It was, I assumed, a flip.

And when I posted it, I mentioned that I thought the design had been done by Katherine Newman, the person behind the house at 10 High Point Road

A reader pointed out that it was not in fact Newman who did the design but Karen Kayne, the designer behind the house at 75 South Drive

And the apparent former owner of the house at 10 Baytree Crescent

But I also pointed out that though she didn’t design the house at 266 Douglas Drive, Newman was the owner of 30 Rosedale Road (UPDATE: Newman is not the owner, but the designer)…

And because she is a designer, she and the house were featured in Canadian House and Home magazine

And then a week later, a reader sent in an email to let me know that house was now on the market.

I admit, I can tell sometimes when a house is going to come on the market when I drive by. But I haven’t driven by that house and had no idea it was coming on the market. And I doubt they decided to list the house (with the same agents as 266 Douglas Drive) a week after being mentioned on this blog. CORRECTION: It was Karen Kayne who designed 266 Douglas).

But I’ve got to say…

As for the house, when it was first listed in 2010, it was listed at $14,800,000.

There were no takers and the price was dropped in 2011 when I first posted it with an asking price of $13,800,000.

In September 2013, it was relisted as 'Canada's Downton Abbey' and the asking price was $12,800,000.

It still didn't sell and the price was dropped in January to $12,250,000. In October, 2013, the price was dropped again to $11,800,000.

I’m not sure what it sold for or when, but with a new kitchen counter and island, lighter floors, and presumably some changes to the bathrooms…

This 8+1 bedroom, 11 bathroom, 11,560 square foot house with a 4 car garage is now on the market for…

$18,000,000.
