120 Dunvegan Road - FOREST HILL
Though it doesn't really look like it, this is a 16,000 house on a 144.1 x 173.88 foot lot.
It is 7 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms and it is apparently an old Eaton estate built in 1939 (really!?!) by Henry J. Burden, a grandson of department store founder, Timothy Eaton.
So, I don't know if Burden built this for himself or a cousin or whatever but I still can't really believe this was done in 1939!
Obviously there have been a lot of updates but my guess is that stair case with marble steps and brass railing are originals. Or at least close to what the original was.
Whenever I see a curved staircase like this, or the house at 15 Ridgewood Drive (speaking of which, that house is due for another price drop), I always think of Kelly Wearstler's front hall...
And am I crazy to feel like she got her inspiration here from Eddie van Halen?
This house is a little more traditional.
And beige-y with a weird mix of styles like this chair...
And this chair...
These curtains...
And what is up with the Jiffy Pop lamp shades?
But I love it!!!
Not sure I love the kitchen and some of the bathrooms but with the right furniture, this place could be great!
And for $8,398,000, it should be!
But it won't sell that high even though it is great.
Maybe low $6s....
Then again, the house at 114 Dunvegan Road sold for $10,700,000. But it was done top to bottom.
I am going to stick with low 6s...maybe a bit higher.
