Hi.

Welcome to the MASH where we gossip about current real estate listings.

Enjoy!

124 Park Road - ROSEDALE

124 Park Road - ROSEDALE

This house looks like it is in Hamilton....or in Woodstock...

Or a house that is featured on

this Instagram account about old Ontario houses

...

But it's not.  It is a 5 bedroom, 9 bathroom house in south Rosedale in the middle of Toronto.

According to

this report, it is considered the second oldest house in Rosedale.

And according to the links sent to me by a few readers (thanks!), this house is owned by a man not shy of the media.  The former (or current, I am not sure) owner is (was?)

a hot shot Scotia Bank guy gone wrongfully dismissed

...

So, if you read the article I linked above...

You would know this guy made a

lot

of money.  And he was fired.  And then he sued for

$100 million

in wrongful dismissal.

He and the bank settled, for how much, I do not know, but that is a whole other story altogether.

This house that used to be one of the many abandoned houses in Rosedale, and owned by the Thompson Family, is up-to-date-ish...

But like over a decade ago up-to-date.

According to the

2008 Toronto Life article

about Berry, he and his wife bought this house for $5,460,000 in 2002.

In that article, Berry said...

“Just last year, I had someone knock on our door and put in an offer to buy the place for $15 million,” Berry says. “Steve Stavro and Gerry Schwartz might have spent that kind of money on their places, but I didn’t.”

It is now listed at $17,700,000.

'Yeah, no', you say?

Well, if I had to pay sticker price and this was my budget, it would definitely be this place over the place at

120 Inglewood Drive

...

That has been listed at $16,800,000 since December.

And this place has an underground tunnel to a guest house.

But $18 million!?!

I.do.not.think.so.

$13 maybe, but not $18.

Beautiful house though.
