ROLLING STONES FORMER MISSISSAUGA CRASH PAD ON THE MARKET
This is a 10,000 square foot, 5 bedroom, 6 bathroom house on a 105.41 x 389.31 foot lot at 2350 Doulton Drive in Erindale, Mississauga.
According to this Toronto Star article about the house written in 2011, the land was owned by business man John Sazs who hired Montreal architect Frederic Roman to build the house after turning down the plans of 8 other architects. It took 18 months to build and this is a photo of it circa 1978...
From the Our Homes article where that photo came from, at some point, the house was sold to John Vandyk of Vandyk Group of Companies who apparently did some updating while keeping the integrity of the original house.
A few months before that article was written, it was the Toronto Life House of the Week when it was for sale and the asking price was $8,900,000.
According to tha Toronto Life article, in 2003, it was the home to the Rolling Stones when they were in Toronto performing for 'SARS-stock', also known as Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto, in 2003.
Here is a video of them performing at that concert in Downsview Park (why was Justin Timberlake there!?!)...
According to that Toronto Life article...
The Rolling Stones were so charmed by the musical allure of this house that they were willing to pay a whooping $40,000 a week to stay here during SARS-stock
Well....with their money, that's kind of chump change if it was for the whole band.
In 2012, it was on the market again and here is that listing video...
If you were able to make it through that whole video without making a few runs to the washroom with motion sickness, you can see that it's obviously a great house.
But $8.9 million!?!
I'm not sure what the price was in 2012 or if it has been listed since then, but as of October, this house is now back on the market for lease and for sale.
The asking price for the lease is $9,000/month...
So I guess the Stones did kind of get a little ripped off...
The new asking price for the sale of this house is...
$6,790,000.
