15 Wood Dale Drive - St. CATHARINES, ONTARIO (2 Comments)
This is a 2+2 bedroom, 3 bathroom on a 123.23 x 129.34 lot at 15 Wood Dale Drive in the Marsdale neighbourhood of St. Catharines in southern Ontario.
It is a house called the LaPierre residence and was named after the family that commissioned it in 1960 by architect James E. Second (yes, related to Laura) working under Saul Herzog, who apparently studied under the ‘Bauhaus legend Walter Gropius.
But enough of the history.
When I first saw the photos, I immediately thought of the house at 4217 Capilano Road in North Vancouver…
They are different but also very similar feel. And if you are into mid-century modern, like that place, this place is amazing.
When I started to go through the photos, I wasn’t sure if the house was kind of being sold as an as-is situation because there were so many original features like those closet doors in the front hall, the stone flooring at the front door, and the stair railing.
And the furniture just seemed too perfect to not be staging.
Then I saw the kitchen.
It was a brand new kitchen but fit in perfectly with the style and time of the house. Here is a photo of it from a feature in Food Network of chef Eric Peacock, who previously owned the home with wife and partner Dale Peacock, of Wellington Court Restaurant + Catering who were also the ones who redid the kitchen…
From a quick google search, the house now seems to be owned by Jessica and Jason Hill of A Brit & a Blonde, a wedding photography company. They do photography in St. Catharines and in Costa Rica so perhaps they are moving there and are now selling the home.
Because, if you want to live in St. Catherines, why would you not want to live here?
The house in North Vancouver was listed for $1,099,000 when I posted it in 2012.
This house that is NOT in Vancouver but is bigger house on a bigger lot in St. Catharines is listed at…
This house at that price, not to mention all the wineries surrounding St. Catharines, kind of makes a move to the Niagara region an appealing option.
Unless, of course, you are moving to Costa Rica.
