53 Argyle Street - BEACONSFIELD VILLAGE, TORONTO (11 Comments)

This house is interesting.

It is a 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom house on a 52 x 50 foot lot at 53 Argyle Street just west of Ossington in Beaconsfield Village.

It was first listed 2 months ago when it was blogTO House of the Week and the Toronto Life House of the Week.

At one point, it was the Parkdale Neighbourhood House as can be seen above the front door (is that the front door?)…

According to the Toronto Life post, it was bought by the Venezia Bakery in 1964 and was then sold to St. Christopher House in 1985. In 2004, the current owners bought it and renovated it into a single family home but left the St. Christopher House sign…

(If you are curious, the phone number is still the same.)

When I first looked at the photos last month, I thought the house was a little weird. And the person who send it in said…

‘WHAT IS THIS HOUSE! Who lives here!!!’

They thought it had to be a bachelor who was in sports or music. Or maybe it was this guy across the street…

But the more I look at this house, the more I like it (with a few changes). It is a 14 year old renovation so if you’re no loving that aspect, you may want to update the kitchen and bathrooms.

The outdoor space isn’t large but there is a full kitchen with a dishwasher and it is a good city yard.

Basically, it is a large, family house with a small yard and 2 parking spots in the middle of the city. So, not bad.

When it was listed in November, the asking price was $3,999,999. I guess it didn’t sell because it is back on the market as a new listing with a new price.

The asking price for this house is now…

$4,200,000.

Interesting.
