When I heard the news that a reader of this site, Jake, had tragically passed away on September 18, I wanted to honour him somehow.

While we never met or spoke in person, Jake and I formed a friendship over the last 9 years based on our shared love of real estate.

Despite never meeting him in person, Jake was always willing to offer advice and encouragement, we shared many emails discussing real estate listings, he sent in many listings to post, and he was a big contributor to the comments section in the posts as MortgageJake.

I considered posting one of the recent houses that he had sent me but instead, I want to share a photo from the most recent listing he sent where he said ‘I would keep the wallpaper. Honestly! I would!’.

I love that he loved this wallpaper.

It was always a joy when I received a new email from Jake. He was a kind person with a great sense of humour, endless optimism, and great pride for his family.

To Jake’s family, I offer my deepest heartfelt condolences and am so sorry for your loss.

Jake will be greatly missed.
