375 Shaw Street - LITTLE ITALY, TORONTO

When I first saw the listing for this 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with a detached 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom garage rental unit on a 23.5 x 127 foot lot at 375 Shaw Street in Little Italy in Toronto 2 weeks ago…

I found it weird that the family room at the back was sunken into the floor…

I considered posting it but decided against it because while it was a good renovation, besides the sunken family room, nothing really stood out to me (other than the blue and green tile in the bathroom).

But then a reader sent me this listing last week (thanks!) and pointed out that I had posted this house before.

And I realized that perhaps the reason that the family room was sunken was because what used to be in that space was this…

There was an actual freaking POOL in the kitchen floor!!!

It may still be the craziest thing I have seen in a house since I started this blog.

It was listed then for $1,200,000 and it sold for $1,405,000.

According to the blogTO post from the other day (looks like I’m not the only one who got an email), this house was then renovated by MJ Architecture.

In 2019, it was listed For Lease for $5,000 when it looked like this…

(For some reason, I prefer the house in these photos.)

Two weeks ago, it was back on the market for sale…

For $3,495,000.

I wonder how much they get for that garage.
