mishMASH Monday
This house called Sparrow Manor at 3970 Ch. de la Côte-des-Neiges was built in 1909. It has been for sale for a long time. Houses in Montreal seem to be listed for a long time, especially the expensive ones in Westmount, but I think this one will be listed for longer because of the price and the renovation.
This house is listed at $6,895,000.
It is huge with 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 2 family rooms, completely updated electrical, plumbing, 8 fireplaces and a 2500 bottle wine cellar but, though this house is impressive, that price seems high. It has been updated from top to bottom but unfortunately, the updating that was done gives the house a new build feel.
They kept a lot of the original charm such as the foyer doors, the trim, and perhaps the fireplaces....
But those floors!!! Though they are nice, they aren't right in this house. Something like the floors in the house at 4281 Boul. De Maisonneuve O. would have been better. Probably more expensive, but worth it.
And the light fixtures throughout.......again, not right in this house. I wish they would take out that red vase with that leaf in it too. It is too distracting.
Clearly this has been a hard sell and it will continue to be. It may be a unique house with amazing city views and a beautiful backyard but
the inside does not match up with the house.
At least they kept the trim.
