This listing that I am posting is a 2+1 bedroom, 2 bathroom loft with 1 parking spot in a building called the Merchandise Building.

It is a loft conversion that is located in this 1,000,000 square foot building.

The Merchandise Building was initially built between 1910 to 1949 for the Simpson's department store as a distribution warehouse, which eventually partially joined forces with Sears in Canada to create Simpson-Sears, which later became just Sears, while the Hudson Bay Company took over Simpsons in 1979, but leaving Sears as its own company....

Or something like that.

Regardless, according to Wikipedia, by the 1990s, the building was owned by Sears when it was sold.

At the same time, Barbara Hall had relaxed the zoning laws in downtown Toronto allowing this building to became one of Toronto's first warehouse conversion.

Which kind of explains why the bathrooms are a little dated in this loft. Though the conversion was designed by Ciccone Simone and Brian Gluckstien, the bathrooms are 20 years old.

Other than the bathrooms (which are more than livable, just a little dated), this is a really good space. According to the listing, $150,000 has been spent on upgrading the space with a new fireplace, kitchen and hardwood..

I like how they left some concrete floor in the office, but I am not so crazy about the dark, dark hardwood.

The asking price is $829,000 and the condo fees are $974.57/month.

I'm not exactly crazy about the location, but there will be someone who will love it. And even though there isn't really a view from the loft itself...
