143 Macpherson Avenue - SUMMERHILL
Some people are saying that chintz is making a comeback...
But I think they meant more this...
And less this...
At least that is what my interpretation would be.
Remember a month ago, I posted a house in Cliffside that reminds me of Hansel and Gretel?
Well, this house reminds me of Holly Hobbie....
Straight out of the 80s!
I don't even know where to start on this place!!!
This house is located a few streets south of the house of my previous post but is more expensive at $1,395,000. And it has one less bedroom.
The street is busy and parking is an issue so it's a good thing this place has a 2 car garage.
But this place needs a lot of work! A few coats of paint won't save this place.
The kitchen is very outdated. It is bright, but outdated.
The carpet needs to be ripped up on the first floor and who knows if there is wood under there or not.
One of the washrooms has a powder blue sink and toilet.
Clearly the pink and the curtains need to go and so does the wallpaper throughout the house. That is not a cheap undertaking.
But I guess if chintz overload is your thing (I don't think this is what Canadian House and Home meant by new chintz) and you don't have kids living with you, then this house is the best house on the street.
Otherwise, it would all have to go. That is a lot on top of the asking price of $1,395,000. I don't care what the location is or how hot chintz becomes (do you want me to stop saying that word? Chintz). Plus there is no option to build out with that tree RIGHT beside the house in the back.
My guess is this will either sell under or will have a price drop like the other house in Summerhill at 113 Walker Avenue.
So far, Walker would be my choice! I was never really into Holly Hobbie (or chintz).
