Just a little over a year ago, I posted a house on a private island just east of Montreal at 175 Rue de l'Île Gagnon.
It belonged to Céline Dion and René Angélil.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably already know that their
10,000 square foot (17,000 including the basement), 5 bedroom house on a 5.6 acre beach front property (with more than 450 linear feet of waterfront) in
Jupiter Island, Florida mansion for sale.
Why is this such big news?
Because they listed it at $72,000,000!!
And even though just 2 years ago, the Daily Mail from England claimed that the house was worth $20,000,000, that was what Céline and René paid BEFORE they tore the place down and rebuilt with completion in 2010.
According to the Wall Street Journal...
Ms. Dion and her manager husband, René Angélil, bought part of the land under her Canadian firm, Renlec Management, in 2005 for $12.5 million and then bought the adjacent property in 2008 for $7 million also under Renlec, according to public records. The couple razed the home on the first property to build their current spread, which was completed in 2010, according to referring agent Joseph Montanaro, of Sotheby's International Realty Quebec.
(Though this property isn't Canadian, Céline, René, and their agent are!
Love that they are using their Canadian agent!)
Not only did they raze the house and build a bigger place, they also built a water park.

It is a LOT of Céline. She sings a lot, even when not on stage or in rehearsal. It also isn't all in the house but there are so many clips that it is all worth watching. But if you don't want watch it, here are some of my favourite clips...

It's all more than I needed to know about Céline and René, but as you can see from the picture of them above, they aren't really worried about that...
