AS BARRICK STOCK DROPS, SO DOES THE PRICE OF PETER MUNK'S HOUSE !
In September 2012, I posted this 4+1 bedroom, 6 bathroom house at 24/26 Old Forest Hill Road (click the link to see the pictures).
It sits on a 225.39 x 263.92 foot lot and the asking price was $25,000,000!!!!!
Who in Canada owns a house on such a large lot in Forest Hill, you ask?
Peter Munk of Barrick Gold.

This is the real Munk sitting on his 140 foot yacht, Golden Eagle...
As per the Maclean's article posted last week, his base salary in 2012 was $2.5 million but he took home a total of $4.5 million. The Barrick Gold Board's senior advisor, global affairs, Brian Mulroney, who also has his Montreal house listed for $7,950,000, took home $2.5 million for 2012.
Munk's house is undeniably kind of crazy.
But $25,000,000!?!
Guess he was hoping to pocket that and head off to his new home and development, Porto Montenegro.

Don't tell me you weren't thinking the same thing!
So, no takers on this house at $25 million. And though Munk made $4.5 million last year, Barrick hasn't had the best year....
As of yesterday, the price of the house has been dropped too....
To $18,000,000.
I still don't think there will be any takers.
But if there is a taker and Munk does move, it will really be too bad for Canada because in the words of Peter Munk himself...
“What this country needs is more Peter Munks, not less.”
