AND IT WENT FOR - 6878 Rue St-Denis - MONTREAL (UPDATE)

In April 2012, I posted this house at 6878 Rue St-Denis in Montreal after a reader sent it in.

It was a worn out time capsule from almost one hundred years ago.  I think the furniture is the same, the wallpaper, everything...

And it was super creepy.  But it had potential.

It just needed a LOT of work.

If you missed the pictures first time around, click here to see them.

My favourite parts were this...

This...

 And this...

Ce mur est très sale!!!!

(Guess who's been using Duolingo.)

But was I crazy to think these chandeliers were kind of amazing!?!

This house was listed at $715,000.

A month after I posted it, it was featured on Montreal's CTV News.  Then, a year later, it was posted by Huffington Post.

Well, according to Huffington Post, after having a price drop in April 2012 to $660,000, then another in March 2013 to $579,000...

And a year and a half later, this house has finally sold...

For $400,000.

Wonder if they are going to paint it white?

UPDATE:  Thanks to the commentor below for sending in the link to the photos of the kitchen!

According to the poster how started the thread on that site...

As it turns out, the place was hoarded to the rafters. According to the agent, they never threw out as much as a cigarette wrapper. The place took two years to clean up - and they're not done. The chandeliers were incrusted with decades of cobwebs and filth.

Gross.
