474 Dovercourt Road - DUFFERIN GROVE (3 comments)
The second I saw this 8+2 bedroom, 6 bathroom house on a 35 x 195 foot lot with a detached 3 car garage at 474 Dovercourt Road in Dufferin Grove...
I immediately thought of this house at 201 Crawford Street in Trinity-Bellwoods...
For a second, I thought it was the same house but clearly it is not.
That house was a 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom house on 46 x 118 foot lot overlooking Trinity-Bellwoods Park. Like this house, it was a multi-unit home.
This house is a six-plex. According to the listing, it is a 'high income investment property' with 'triple A tenants'. The house on Crawford was a Toronto Community Housing house.
Basically, they are the same, except that house was on Crawford in Trinity-Bellwoods...
And this house is on Dovercourt in Dufferin Grove...
Two doors down from the Matador...
The unlicensed, after-hours booze can once owned by Ann Dunn (who raised her 5 kids as a single mom in the apartment above!!!) in front of the iconic establishment...
It shut down in 2006 but has been immortalized by the late Leonard Cohen in the 1992 video for the song 'Closing Time'...
Since it was purchased 7 years ago, it has been undergoing a transformation by owner Paul McCaughey seen here...
Along with his partner/brother, Gerald McCaughey, former president and CEO of CIBC.
. It is apparently re-opening as an event centre that looks like this inside now...
(What? No barrels!?!)
So, that could be a good thing or a bad thing but I would still say the Crawford house is a better location.
The Crawford house was listed at $1,550,000 just over a year ago. It sold for $1,925,201.
A year later, this house is listed at...
$2,800,000.
Looks like they are going with the new Matador being a good thing...
Because, really...
How can the Matador ever be a bad thing?
