I REALLY like this laneway house.
From the front, this house reminds me a lot of the laneway house at 65 June Callwood Way in Riverside...
That place had a lot of potential, but could have used some work to update it.
This place is an example of what that laneway house could be.
It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom laneway house with a large yard...
And 5 parking spots.
According to the listing, it has been featured in 'The Globe, Ctv, Global News, The Stat, Bnn And More'. And according to this article in the Toronto Star that was (coincidentally) written a month ago, this house is owned by Alex Sharpe, co-founder of Lanescape, an 'urban design and planning organization'.
Apparently, he redid this coach house in 2011 (with some difficulty with the city) and now rents it out to supplement his income.
And I think he did a really good job.
I like the concrete floors (don't love the wood floors upstairs), I like the stairs and the railing, the windows to the backyard really open it up and give it a lot of light. And it has nice finishes like the Ridgely Studio Works chandelier.
As the listing states, this is 'the ultimate entertaining home', and I guess it is, especially in summer. And with that office area, this is a really good live/work space.
According to a quick google search, just last week, this place was listed for lease at $5,500/month.
It has now had a drop...
The new rental price for this laneway house is...
$4,950/month.
Hmmm...wonder what the last renter paid...and does it come furnished?
