mishMASH Monday - 260 Edgemere Road - PORT SYDNEY, HUNTSVILLE

When I saw the listing photo for this 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage on a 310 x 704 foot lot at 260 Edgemere Road just outside of Huntsville…

I immediately thought of the ‘T’ house at 2000 Strathallan Woods Place in Barrie

That house was inspired by the LA based The Stahl House

And it was designed by Toronto based architect Harry Bernard Kohl and was the winner of the 1968 Award for Most Beautiful Hidden Modernist Home.

According to the 2017 Dezeen article about the house, it is 2,476 square feet. As per the article…

The entire construction uses only local woods, and the project was awarded first prize at the Ontario Wood Design Awards 2016.

According to the 2021 Arch Daily article about the house, it was completed the same year.

I am not sure what the inspiration was for this house but it was designed by then Peru based architect Mariana Leguia and her team at LLAMA Urban Designs. According to the listing she has since moved to Toronto.

This video shows how the house was built over a ravine…
