657 Soudan Avenue - DAVISVILLE VILLAGE
The first thing I thought of when I saw this house was...
A Stormtrooper.
And that is probably why it didn't sell in its first week of being on the market.
That and the $1,769,000 price tag!
For a house with 4+1 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and a blank slate to build, the kitchen offers very little storage. Its pretty unimpressive.
The rest of the house has interesting choices for a modern contemporary house. The floor is a little cottagey and doesn't go with the dark fireplace and kitchen. It would have been a lot better if they had left it unstained but it is still a little knotty.
The paint colours in the upstairs bedroom don't seem very contemporary either, especially with the dark wood trim.
The back of the house has a door from the first floor but no deck yet. And what is the point of the basement being above ground but having no windows. Just that little walk out door.
I think this house is overpriced. It was listed in August 2010 for $829,900 but was then listed in June 2011 for $739,000. I don't think they spent $1MM building this. Or even $700,000. They are looking for a pretty hefty profit. Plus, I am not sure the neighbourhood is ready for this house at this price or that anyone wants to live inside a Stormtrooper's helmet. I suppose you could always paint it...
I think it is more of a $1,495,000 house.
