ICONIC TORONTO ARCHITECT, BARTON MYERS, LISTS MONTECITO HOME

Since the news came out that Harry and Meghan are actually not planning to buy the house at 30 Rosedale Road

Or 75 Glen Edyth Road

Or the house at 124 Park Road

Or the house at 43 Russell Hill Road

And have instead decided to buy a 18,671 square feet, 9 bedroom, 16 bathroom, $14,700,000USD home in Montecito in California

(a beautiful house but, tbh, not exactly the kind of interior I thought they would be into)

I decided to see what else was on the market that they may have looked at…

And then I discovered that the Barton Myers Montecito home at 949 Toro Canyon Road that I posted in the first post for the Myers designed Wolf House at 51 Roxborough Drive in Toronto…

Was on the market.

It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom main house with a 1 bedroom guest house and a separate building used as the headquarters of the architecture firm. The compound was built in 1999 on 38.68 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Here is a photo of Myers and his wife and long time business partner, Victoria, from the firms website

And here they are in front of the building they used as their office…

Sadly, the Myers had planned to spend the rest of their lives at this home but Victoria passed away last year after a brief illness. As Myers said in this Mansion Global article about the listing, ‘Things are different now. She’s so present here, she’s so much of this house.’

After much contemplation, Myers decided to list the home for $8,200,000USD at the end of May (though the listing now says ‘Under Contract’ so it may not be available anymore).

It is unclear where Myers is moving to, and while it may be hard to top something as iconic as this home, I am sure it will be just as unique.
