377 Sackville Street - CABBAGETOWN, TORONTO
This is a 5+1 bedroom, 5 bathroom house with a 1 car garage and 2 more parking spots on a 50 x 108 foot lot at 377 Sackville Street in Cabbagetown in Toronto.
It is a house that looked like this when it was last for sale in 2009…
According to this Globe and Mail article about the house, it was a 3,500 square foot house built in 1856 and it was called The Shields House. It was built for Francis Shields who worked with livestock.
It was listed in 2009 for $1,800,000 but the listing expired.
It never publicly sold but according to the Globe and Mail article, the house was then owned by George Tipton whose family had owned the house for over 100 years. But after a little google searching and coming across this blog post, it mentioned that the design was done by James M Davie Design. And after even more googling, I came across this House and Home article where Davie seems to imply that this is his house.
So, I guess at some point it sold but I am not sure for how much.
Since then, a LOT of work was put into the house and whether it is your style or not, you have to admit it shows very well. It’s full of colour and pattern. But if that isn’t your style, other than the kitchen floor, it would be easy to make it not so colourful.
In September, I missed it but this house was listed at $4,725,000. I guess it never sold because it is back on the market…
For $4,298,000.
